Skin Care

We train students to perform procedures in skin care and spa services such as Micro-Dermabrasion, electronic therapy, and body wraps.

Become a Licensed Facial Specialist in as little as 11 weeks!

Our up-to-the-minute program is structured to provide our students with the very latest information on the skin – and its care – and to train you how to perform the latest, most in-demand procedures and services. Florida Academy’s programs are unique and give students a variety of options in pursuing their skin care specialist registrations. Our 300 hour basic skin care program provides students with the fundamentals of facials, waxing, bodywrapping and makeup, while our 600 hour Professional Esthetics program is an intensive course where, upon successful completion of the program and meeting all the course requirements, students will be issued a diploma, receive their Florida license as a skin care specialist, a licensed body wrapper, certification in micro-dermabrasion and LED, certification in Epiwave ultrasonic facial, certification in Advanced Make-up Techniques, Chemical Peels and Endermologie. For those students seeking a career in medical esthetics or permanent makeup, our 900 hour skin care program incorporates all the curricula and certifications associated with our 600 hour skin care program, along with additional certifications in permanent makeup and advanced medical grade chemical peels.

Over the past several years, there has been a proliferation of establishments, both locally and nationally, offering skin care treatments and services. People trained to provide the specialized services of this profession are generally called Estheticians. Another indication of Skin Care’s new prominence was when the State of Florida required HMOs to allow their members five visits annually to a Dermatologist without a referral from their primary care physician.

Dermatologists devote ever-increasing portions of their practice to spa-like services and the sale of skin care products. Additionally, nearly every area cosmetic/plastic surgeon has added some type of skin care treatment regime to their surgery practice. There is indeed science coupled with art in this exciting and exploding new field.

Our school is equipped with modern equipment, including High Frequency, Galvanic and Micro-Dermabrasion machines, Epiwave Ultrasonic facial machine, LED light therapy equipment, Endermologie machine, and Temptu airbrush makeup machines to provide hands-on training of electronic therapy treatments, as found in the most prestigious spas, salons and medical offices.

We also have not forgotten that the best classroom setup, a thoughtfully constructed program of study, the latest equipment and the proper texts aren’t enough to get the job done. We know that quality instruction, provided by true professionals, is primary to getting the education you deserve – and will need – to become a successful practitioner. That is why our graduates can be found working today in the area’s most prestigious spas, salons, country clubs and medical facilities, or operating their own successful businesses.
